Given his debut in Brian Little's first game in charge, Baynes acquitted himself well in a 2-2 derby draw with Chester.  Since then he has developed into a fine prospect.  Mostly used as a right back or wing back in the 2007-8 season, he was given a game on the right side of midfield at Lincoln, and responded with two goals and an assist.  A superb striker of the ball, both from set pieces and long distance in open play, Baynes is a real prospect and has been attracted the interest of clubs in the Football League.

"The referee found five added minutes from somewhere, but he could have added twenty; a draw was a fair reward for Altrincham's efforts and Wrexham were never going to deny them."
