A tenacious homegrown right back, Spender has established himself as a favourite with the fans by virtue of his committed performances and ability to pop up with the occasional goal. Indeed, a strike from a corner at Lincoln and a brilliant assist for Michael Proctor at Shrewsbury in April 2007 couple with his excellent form in the run-in, were key factors in Wrexham's escape from relegation to the Conference that season.
