A homegrown midfielder, Mackin has been on the fringes of the first team for a few years now, but has never really been given a good run in the side. A former captain of the reserves, his energy in the centre of the park is his greatest asset, and Brian Little appears to fancy him more than his predecessors did; 2008-9 is likely to be a big season in his development.
